Apple Podcasts Names The Red Note Darkside Show of the Month

The Red Note podcast has been selected as Darkside Show of the Month by Apple Podcasts. The designation places the series in the editorial Darkside collection on the Apple Podcasts app and website, where it was featured prominently for listeners throughout the month.

Apple Podcast’s Darkside collection is a curated space dedicated to crime and mystery podcasts, updated weekly with series that probe unsettling, complex, and often disturbing real-world stories. The initiative is designed to help listeners discover high-quality content exploring themes such as unsolved murders, missing persons cases, criminal investigations, and systemic injustice.

Produced by Imperative Entertainment and Blue Guitar, The Red Note and La Nota Roja podcasts debuted in 2020 as a serialized true-crime narrative hosted by investigative journalist Lydia Cacho. Over 10 episodes, the podcast traces more than 30 years of systemic violence against women along the Mexico–U.S. border in Ciudad Juárez, spotlighting how authorities repeatedly failed to solve and prevent atrocities while the families of victims continued their quest for justice.

The series is available in both English (The Red Note) and Spanish (La Nota Roja), reflecting its bilingual production and global reach. Both versions have attracted substantial listener attention: in the two years following its release, the podcast and its Spanish counterpart reached the top 40 on Apple’s true crime charts in 42 countries, including number-one placements in markets such as El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, Lithuania, and Fiji. In 2021, La Nota Roja was also nominated for Best Spanish Language Podcast at the iHeart Podcast Awards.

Being named Darkside Show of the Month highlighted the podcast’s impact within true crime-oriented audiences and positioned it alongside other compelling investigative narratives showcased in Apple’s editorial collections. The recognition also helped broaden exposure for the series, leading new listeners to engage with its deeply researched storytelling.
